Kelly Dixon |
"I had the opportunity to see a special performer at this years 'Just for Laughs' Festival in Montreal, his name is Kelly Dixon. I see a lot of comics and feel Kelly is unique and clever in his comedy: a winning combination!" Zoe Friedman Dir. of Development Comedy Central Since his very first time on stage, Kelly has maintained the same dedicated and stubborn approach to each performance....."how many drink tickets do we get?". Kelly was born in Vancouver, the only son of a seaman of the Merchant Marines and a waitress of a greasy spoon (the perfect recipe for a wandering minstrel). Raised in a tough working-class neighbourhood, the wiry Kelly's natural quick wit and feet, got him out of many a hostile situation. Thus his imaginative storytelling abilities and laid back personality developed Prior to the stage, Kelly worked as a shipbuilder and electrician and teenager. His instant rapport with audiences earned him regular work as a stand-up comedian. After a stand out performance at the 'Just for Laughs' Festival in Montreal, Kelly moved to New York and became a regular at 'The Comic Strip' and 'Stand up New York'. There, with a few other like minded do-gooders, Kelly was a writer and performer with the critically acclaimed and short lived sketch group 'The Milk DudsNULL, all the while studying at the very prestigious 'Sheila Gray Acting Studio'. A fondness for sunshine and lollipops soon led Kelly west to Los Angeles where buckets of opportunity awaited the bucketless. His likeability and freshness was rewarded with regular appearances on 'Improv' stages throughout California and Las Vegas.Numerous appearances on 'NBC's Friday Night' and the 'Mike Bullard Show' has kept Kelly's happy reverent little face recognizable and anticipated on both sides of the border. Kelly can be currently seen in a movie short called "30 Minutes" at www.pintofilms.com. It's a spoof on the www.bmwfilms.com done by film directors, John Woo, Tony Scott and Joe Carnahan.
